Perhaps she forgot to bring a good book?

One needn't be fluent in Chinese to understand the International Language of an Airline Temper Tantrum. A direct result of missing one's flight.

Episodes like this occur daily at Newark Liberty Airport, but this video clearly demonstrates they can pop up anywhere airplanes take off and land.

I'm thinking she forgot the number one rule of air travel: always bring a good book.

  2. Oh. My. God. I doubt there is a red-blooded human that hasn't missed a flight and been distraught, but please! I need to forward this to my sister and have her translate. Did you shoot this?

  4. Sandy - no, I didn't witness this one (thank goodness). Posted on youtube by someone who couldn't believe what they were seeing, I suppose.

But it does occur on a regular basis in New York, LOL.

  7. While it IS distressing to miss a flight...I'm thinking that there are two people who missed their Newark to Buffalo flight who will never again make a fuss...

  8. I'm working on the translation...assuming this language is some form of Chinese, and assuming my sister will check her e-mails, I will report back on exactly what is being shrieked.

  9. People do get so upset, don't they?
I used to like to watch that show..I think it was called "Airport" about Southwest Airline. Many very, very upset people about things that can't be helped, like the WEATHER.
Of course, often alcohol seems to be involved in their reactions....

  10. OK, my sister says the lady in the video is speaking Cantonese (not Mandarin, which is what my sister speaks) but generally understands the tantrum as "the plane is still here, so why can't I get on?".

  11. Sandy - tell your sister THANK YOU!!! (And how awesome is it that she speaks Mandarin? Wow.)

Carey - touche. Sad but true.

  14. We played this at work three or four times today, and this lady is now our point of reference for anyone throwing a hissy fit for any reason!

  15. Who knows why she was flying....perhaps a family member was very ill? It could have been a life changing moment,we have no idea. I feel sorry for her.

  16. Michele-- Just saw this clip on Headline News!!! So funny. Then I saw that Dave on your Amazon post said that you should be an investigative reporter...I have to agree, you should be getting paid for unearthing the stuff that you do!

  17. Carey - it just gets handed to me. Not sure why, lol.

Kath - when we first started working in commercial aviation, we all started off thinking that way. By the time you've seen your 10,000th fit like this, you've learned that isn't the case. The people traveling with real tragedies do not behave this way.
