Are we the only one who is absolutely smitten with old pulp novels? More specifically, we love their cover art.
As A Reader's Respite has been busily moving into our new abode, we're bemoaning the fact that Mr. RR won't allow us to decorate the new place with reproduction prints of pulp novel covers.
Do you think this one hung in the living room would send the wrong message to my kids?
Perhaps a print of this in the entryway would discourage the neighbors from being too friendly?
Perfect for the game room, wouldn't you say? Subtitle: She Gave Her Charms to the Highest Bidder.
Not quite sure how this book never made it onto the shelves around here. There is a librarian in the title, a book on the cover, what's not to love?
This one on the wall in the master bedroom might give Mr. RR a complex. (Or not.)
We love the front cover description: The Uncensored Confessions of a Trailer Camp Tramp.
*Sigh* Time for a trip to the old, used bookstore. If we can't hang them on our walls, we can at least add them to our bookshelf.
What in the world is wrong with Mr. RR?
ReplyDeleteThose are absolutely fantastic! I have got to get my hands on them. I'm thinking you might give the I Prefer Girls cover art a shot in the bedroom..Me thinks he won't protest too much.
ReplyDeleteOur lit festival this year is all about pulp fiction and the art!
ReplyDeletePriceless, although I can't imagine what Mr. RR is worried about.
ReplyDeleteI suspect that if Mr. RR were going to get a complex, he would have it by now. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI can totally imagine a home decorated with these images, poster sized. A bizarre home....
I love pulp fiction & the art work is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteGotta love The Uncensored Confessions of a Trailer Camp Tramp.
Have fun @ the used bookstore.
Blessings in the new home, Michele.
See, Michele, I think this is the solution you've been looking for, to silence those parties that were spreading rumors about you and Mr. RR. Hang these puppies up on your walls and see what they say then! I am totally digging these!
ReplyDeleteLove 'em! It must have been fun being a cover artist in those days.
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic!! I would love a pulp novel coffee table book. I'm sure there is one somewhere!
ReplyDeleteMr. RR needs to look again! Who can resist Reno Tramp or Sin on Wheels?
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love them.
Hope the move isn't too painful.
Can you get away with SIN ON WHEELS in the garage (well, the poster, I mean. The actual sinning is up to you :) )
ReplyDeleteGreat finds!
:) I can understand how Mr. RR might feel about these ;)
ReplyDeleteRe: "Marijuana Girl" - I really feel that the author (or publisher, perhaps) didn't know very much about drugs... Those blurbs hardly even make sense given the context. Now, if the book was "Meth Girl"...
ReplyDeleteThere are some fantastic pulp covers aren't there. Almost a lost art form!
ReplyDeleteI totally love these! And I actually have Sin on Wheels on a bookmark that I picked up somewhere. Might be time to dig the bookmark out and see if there's a specific company doing the retro covers to bookmark thing.
ReplyDeleteWhen did we get so p.c. with our book covers? Oh for the good old "Mad Men" days of cocktails during work.
ReplyDeleteI just ordered one of the more famous lesbian pulp fiction novels, "Beebo Brinker"! I must wholeheartedly agree that the covers should be wrapped around saucy tales on our bookshelves, and splayed in the bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen! Their not-so-subtle illustrations beckon passion, intrigue, mystery, and humor(!) to the surface. What, I say, WHAT goes better with waffles and tea in the morning?!
ReplyDeleteOh I want to read all of these lol. LOVE these covers :)
