In Which A Reader's Respite Rolls Out the Red Carpet....

A Reader's Respite is in the mood for an award ceremony.

We missed the Academy Awards this year and since we didn't watch them, we can't really bitch about them.
It's leaving a big hole in our lives.

So here's the plan: A Reader's Respite has 364 blogs in our feed reader. Each and every one of them has something unique that draws us back there again and again.
Once a week or so, we're going to tell you about a blog in our reader and tell you why, in our own sick and twisted way, we love them so much.

If they're new to you, GREAT. If you're familiar with them, you can add in your allocades.

Like our very own award ceremony.

Here's the dress A Reader's Respite is wearing for this week's award ceremony:

While it is cutting edge, perhaps this dress doesn't exactly reflect our dire personality.

Here's our Master of Ceremonies patiently waiting for A Reader's Respite to get into said dress:

"Darling, that dress is stunning on you."

Okay, okay, it's time to get on with the program.

The Award for Bankrupting A Reader's Respite With a Ridiculously Long Wishlist goes to.....

Passages to the Past

Seriously. Amy is personally responsible for at least $4,568 worth of books on my wishlist right now. It's got to stop.

BIG DISCLAIMER: Given today's blogging environment, A Reader's Respite would like to make it perfectly clear that the above awards post is a lark. This post in no way takes away from the Book Blogger Appreciation Awards (expertly put together by My Friend Amy) and is in no way a theft of that idea.

This one is snarky.

Amy's is the REAL THING.

So the first person who accuses me of stealing content is going to get slapped.

  8. You're hilarious! That dress is indeed the height of fashion. And good choice on the master of ceremonies there. ;)

Also, I really like how you used an exact number. LOL.

  9. You didn't steal content, but you did steal my dress and while you were raiding my closet, you photographed my bed. I was trying to keep the identity of Mr. BFR a secret. Now you all know. Sigh.

I swear if I find myself living on the streets, it will be Amy's fault. I'm almost afraid to visit her blog, because the number of fantastic books she digs up is awesome. And then there's the castle tours . . . I'm just going to have to cash in my IRA.

  10. Hey, if Viggo likes the dress, then I'll have to get me one, and then you just watch out! I may have to fight you for him. I LIKE that picture! There is nothing about your blog that is thievery...you are 100% Michele and that is why you have two million followers. I can just hear Passages to the Past screaming "they like me! they really like me!". I'll have to check out that blog at my own peril!

  11. Hahahaha! Don't kill the messenger baby! Blame the authors for writing such excellent novels!!

I love this feature...and if that dress is fashion...I don't get it =) However, on you I'm sure you would look beautiful and Viggo wouldn't be able to keep his hands off you. Do you think we'll run into Viggo in Scotland?

  16. What a fantastic post! I applaud your creativity, your humour, your divine sense of fashion, and in fact, I'm going to nominate you to host the next Academy Awards. Because they certainly couldn't find anyone have as clever as you! I think your award idea is marvelous, nad i'm still smiling at your voice; a technique which is hard to teach in writing.

  17. You say that as if snarky was not REAL! I love snarky!

And I am a bit fond of your blog. ;-)

  18. I was going to admire the dress (and Viggo), but I'm still trying to figure out how to do a virtual wolf whistle.

  19. Wow! 364 blogs in your blog reader! How the heck do you do that? Sometimes I feel like I spend more time reading blogs than books -- and that can be a problem.

I'm kind of afraid to check out a blog that could be that costly to me! HAHA!

And I love your awards dress and your bed partner ... Yummy!

  20. Thanks for stopping by my blog. It's raining cat and dog here in San Francisco. I have found myself staying in all day immersing in the world of Scarlett O'Hara! I certainly have made headway through the book.

I'll also check out Lonesome Dove. :)

  21. I agree, Amy at Passages to the Past is responsible for at least a third of my wish list! She deserves an award for all of the upcoming titles she digs up!!
