Bookworm Awards and other Schtuff

Redlady's Reading Room sent the Bookworm Award my way. This little meme asks me to open the book closest to you, not your favorite or most intellectual book, but the book closest to you at the moment, to page 56. Write out the fifth sentence, as well as two to five sentences following there.

I grabbed the closest book to me and it just happened to be Dr. Suess' Sleep Book, which by the way, does nothing whatsoever to induce children to sleep (unless perhaps you bean them over the head with it). Since the Sleep Book does not - as it turns out - actually have 56 pages in it, I'll randomly open a page and share:
Everywhere,
Creatures
Have shut off their voices.
They've all gone to bed
In the beds of their choices.
They're sleeping in nooks. And they're sleeping in cracks.
Some on their tummies, and some on their backs.
They're peacefully sleeping in comfortable holes.
Some, even, on soft-tufted barber shop poles.
The number of sleepers is now past the millions!
The number of sleepers is now in the billions!
Sleep Book, by Dr. Suess

You're sleepy now, aren't you? Admit it, these books only work on adults.

Oh, and I'm supposed to tag some friends (which makes the supposition that I actually have some). So I'm thinking ...

I've been slacking on this blog posting thing. Probably because of Twitter. But also because I actually accomplished a full month of blog posting for National Blog Posting Month. Yup, that's right. I actually spewed out some nonsense on this blog every single day for the entire month of November. And you actually put up with said nonsense.

So as I see it, you deserve an award more than I do.

  3. Don't get smart with me, you two! I officially have blogger's block and have little left to say. I might have to conserve smart-ass remarks for January. ha.

  4. Dr. Seuss rocks!! Don't you sometimes want to bean them over the head when they make you read the same darn book over and over and over again. So many times that you recite it in your sleep??? LOL

  5. Love the Dr. Seuss excerpt! Yeah, it did make me want to go back to bed (though it doesn't take much these days). Congrats on posting daily for the month of November! I, on the other hand, have gotten progressively less verbose: 34 posts in September, 27 in October and then only 21 in November... I suspect December will be even worse! (Oh aren't I the cheerful one today!)

  6. My dad has a ratty old copy of The Sleep Book that he used to keep on his dresser to read to us on random nights! We didn't usually get a bedtime story, so it was special when he did read it to us.

But seriously, I really enjoy your blog. I seem to link to it more than anyone else's :P

  7. Reading out loud makes me sleepy! So I could have used that to put me to bed. LOL

Thanks for the tag! I'll have to do this tomorrow.

  9. Dr. Suess was the greatest! It's working on me, but I'm old. I don't think he ever made my children sleepy.

  11. Congratulations! In 2.5 years of blogging the most posts I've managed in a month is 22. I just don't have that interesting of a life I guess.

  12. Petunia - I don't have an interesting life, either. That's why I bored everyone to death in November...ha.

  15. Anna - I bean them a couple times a day just on general principle, ha.

Avis - December will probably be way worse for me, too. I'm out of words.

Bookworm - awwww, thanks. We really need to hook you up with some better blogs than this one, though. ;)

Michele - sorry I forgot about actually letting you know you were tagged. My mind is slipping....imagine that.

Bookfool - let's face it, just about anything puts US to sleep. Only benadryl does it for the kids.

Shana - thanks. Baby steps, right?

Carey - see above response to Michele. Sorry 'bout that. It's the 37,000 feet excuse again.
