Okay, on with the show....books added to the Leaning-Tower-of-Pisa-TBR-Pile this week:

The Witch's Trinity, by Erika Mailman; courtesy of The Literate Housewife Review and Erika Mailman (many, many thanks to you both!!!).

The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon, by David Grann; courtesy of Random House. Release date is Februrary 17, 2009. This new book will appear in a new series of reviews coming to A Reader's Respite in 2009: Manly Reviews of Manly Books written by our Manly Guest Reviewer, Steve.

To a Native Shore, by Valerie Anand; courtesy of the generosity of Carey at The Tome Traveller's Weblog (thank you!). Although Carey and I fly for different airlines, I'm thinking we should start an inter-airline traveling library for flight crews.

The Heaven Tree Trilogy, by Edith Pargeter; courtesy of BookMooch. (I am so excited over this one...I've been hunting for it for months now!)

Added to my wishlist:
- The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan; courtesy of ChainReading.
- My Mother's Wish, by Jerry Camery-Hoggart; courtesy of The Friendly Book Nook.

- Stuart Sharp at Estella's Revenge gave us 10 Bookish Things to Be Grateful For.
- Becky's Book Reviews provided a wonderful Thanksgiving Bibliography.

It looks like you got some good ones. Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteLots of good books! I won Witch's Trinity at Literate Housewife too. I can't wait to read it. I must fit it in there somewhere. Happy Reading Michele.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be reading for the next 30 years straight at the rate I'm going. :) But then, I'm sure you all can relate to that feeling, right?
ReplyDeletelol Michele, I once said on my blog that there is no way I can read all the books I now have on my shelves before I leave this world so OMG, can I relate!
ReplyDeleteWell done on the Heaven Tree Trilogy! That one has been on my wish list for a while.
ReplyDeleteI recently mooched a Jean Plaidy from Australia and I'm geeked out!
I have an ARC of The Fire but really think I need to go back and read the Eight again to catch up. But when will I find time for that ......

ReplyDeleteKaye -- actually, you are correct on the penguin thing! I used to have a blog called "Looking for Penguins" and it really had nothing to do with Penguin Books. So you're instincts were right!
ReplyDeleteSorry, dyslexic fingers with the last post -I just figured it was easier to delete and start over. I too had to go back and read The Eight again before starting The Fire. You'll like it, I'm sure. Katherine must have a mind like a steel trap to come up with all those scenarios. Very clever and enjoyable books.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw your name at LT, I thought you were looking for penguins as in birds. Now I realize it is books,I am really embarrassed. My mind always goes to the real thing. Anyway, enjoy The Eight and The Fire.
Michele, you must have the fastest eyes and fingers in the world! Glad to know it really was the glorious bird. Lol
ReplyDeleteLOL - no I was just working on another post and I'm easily distracted, ha ha.
ReplyDeleteLove love love your avatar!
What a fantastic week in books!
ReplyDeleteKeep smiling past those crabby holiday travelers (and breathe especially deep on Wednesday and Sunday)!
I got Lost City of Z in the mail this week too - somewhat surprisingly, since I remember debating whether or not to request it, but thought I'd decided against it! I don't have a Manly Guest Reviewer (hee!), though, so I guess I'll have to do it myself.
ReplyDeleteDawn - *breathing* (really it's called hyperventilation...ha)
ReplyDeleteFyrefly - you know, I think Random House went a little crazy last week. They were sending me books I know I didn't request. So now I had to go track me down a "manly" reviewer and put him on the payroll. ;)
You are so welcome! I'm glad you're excited to read it.
