I love bookmarks almost as much as I love books. Which is insane, considering that I normally use a bit of scratch paper to actually mark my place in my current book. But that irrelevant because I seem to collect bookmarks as much as books.
These are bookmarks made of recycled tea bags. I found them over at Fair World Gallery, which features Fair Trade items from around the world. The bookmarks are from South Africa. I think my bookmark collection just grew.
That is so funny! I do the same thing! I have *tons* of beautiful bookmarks, and I mark my page with an index card or my library receipt. Go figure. :-)

Those are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThose are very pretty. I like books that are stiff enough to hold and drag down the page (preferably white on the back) - I use them as sort of a guide. I like pretty ones with doodads on the tassles. I've probably got more than 50 or 60, and yet I never can seem to find one when I need one.
ReplyDeleteThank you for commenting at J. Kaye's Book Blog...love the tea bag bookmarks! :)
ReplyDeleteI always get bookmarks in my Christmas stocking and for some reason I 'save' them and use whatever piece of paper I grab.
ReplyDeleteI work at a library and we get very unusual ( a fork ) and personal ( v.erotic letter) items left in books as bookmarks.
I love the ones with 'doodads' on the end, too. Sadly, so does the cat and she always pulls out the bookmark playing with the doodad.
ReplyDeleteLuanne - I bet you find some crazy stuff. That would make for a good blog post! I've been known to tuck money in my books, so I'm pretty good about flipping through the pages of a book before I get rid of it. :)
Good lord - are you a long-lost twin of mine or what? I love bookmarks and even bought some blank ones at a craft store with the hopes that I would think of something cool to do with them - I don't know, paint or scrapbook them somehow - but I still haven't thought of anything! I love the new bookmarks that have magnets - those ROCK!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh, pretty!
ReplyDeleteBookmarks in Christmas stockings ... why did I never think of that. Great idea!
J. Kaye, I think Michele would make a good spotlight candidate :)
ReplyDeleteSo I'm not the only one who loves bookmarks (good to know). I'll be sure to post some neat ones every now and again.
ReplyDeleteShana just made me nervous as I skulk off to find out what the heck a spotlight is......(mental picture of interrogation lights shining down on me as someone deprives me of my coffee for 3 days. I'm not paranoid, really.)
Well, uh, they're pretty... but.... used tea bags? really? hmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteNicola - actually, that same thought crossed my mind. I could just see tea stains on my pages (or worse). But they were so pretty I couldn't resist. Maybe if I actually used bookmarks to mark my place in a book --as opposed to just sitting in my bookmark collection--I'd be more bleh.
ReplyDeleteI suppose tea is no worse than the various inks and whatnot used on most bookmarks. I had a scrapbooker's reaction tho: "Ack! Tannic acid! keep it AWAY!!" lol
